Our story
Lumen & Stone Jewelry started in 2014 at a card table in a one-bedroom apartment, with a torch, a rolling mill, and a coffee tin full of scrap silver. I'd been making pieces for friends for years before I sold my first ring at a Saturday market in West Asheville.
Eleven years later we're still a small studio. It's me, my bench partner Iris, and two apprentices who've been with us since 2021. We don't outsource casting or send stones out to be set. If a piece carries our name, someone in this shop shaped it.
Most weeks we're working on a mix of custom engagement rings, small batch collection pieces, and repairs for jewelry that's been in a family for decades. The variety keeps the work honest. A engagement ring for a couple getting married in the spring gets the same attention as a great grandmother's brooch that needs a new pin.
We source stones from a handful of dealers we've worked with for years, most of them small operations in the Carolinas and a few overseas who can trace their material back to the mine. When a client wants a specific stone, we'll travel to a gem show to pick it out ourselves.
